3 Things People do Wrong in Relationships Before they Start–A Rant

8 Sep

For some reason, I always find myself being asked for advice on how to get a date. Probably because I’m a psychology student, I’m analytical (hello being an ENTJ female), and I got married pretty young.

I love helping my friends out, but I find that they tell me the same problems again and again. And I think that part of the problem is that no one actually knows how to date. Which is a problem, because relationships are a huge part of our lives. For many of us, marriage is one of the most important things we’d like to do with our lives. So it really affects me when I see people who so desperately want to find love going about it in the wrong ways.

So, from my vast experience dealing with other people’s relationship problems as well as my own dating experience, I though I’d give you the 3 things we do wrong in relationships that make them way more complicated than they need to be, and how to fix it! Enjoy. (And just remember, I say all this in love and from experience.)

Reflections on Changing Seasons | June Goals

1 Jun

May was a month of dealing with change. But for the first time, it wasn’t a completely aversive experience for me.

I’m a control freak. Everyone who knows me knows that. I actually had a professor start laughing once when she was reading out the personality characteristics for A-type personality and said “So, Rebecca.” (It was a small class, we were all friends, it was funny.)

But May has been a big season of change. In fact, this whole year or two have been. Only a brief 17 months ago I wasn’t even engaged–now I’ve been married for almost a year.

May was a pretty big shift for me, though, even more so than a lot of the marriage stuff was. I pretty much knew what to expect with that, to be honest. This month I graduated school (minus one course–finishing that up this summer but it’s online so I consider myself graduated from school in the sense that I’ll never sit in another undergrad level classroom again), Connor quit his job so now I’m the sole breadwinner so he can do full-time school this summer, and I started my first real career. It is insane. Plus, we moved, so now I have this new place to take care of. [Read more…]

Insta-Update 5: I’m Graduating! Kind of!

9 Apr

Welcome to the fifth instalment of my monthly insta-updates! In case you missed the last one, this is a time where I update what I’ve been up to by sharing what I’ve been doing on Instagram! I find it fun, and I’ve always hated the boring posts that are just long essays of “what I’ve been up to” from bloggers. So I’m throwing in some pictures to make it more interesting!

I haven’t done a personal update post in a while, I’ve realized. But I’m going to start doing them again to still seem like more of a human on here and less of a college-tip-robot who just continuously pumps out posts but doesn’t actually have a personal life.

The Most Attractive Quality Anyone Can Have

3 Mar

I’m 21, and most people around me are either in a relationship or looking for a relationship, and in talking to people and thinking myself I’ve noticed some patterns. One of those patterns is what the most attractive quality in a person is.

I was never any good at the dating game. I got married to the first guy I dated, so I really don’t have much experience. Nonetheless, I have had a lot of experience with people, and with lots of people who are dating, have liked people, and who are married. And you know what? There really is a common thread of what girls and guys both find attractive. And that’s what we’re talking about today, because it’s something we don’t talk about enough.
