13 Cheap and Fun Date Ideas!

12 Jun

“So, what do you want to do?”

The dreaded question.

Have you ever just wanted to DO something but didn’t know what? Connor and I are awful at making decisions and thinking of things to do, so I tried making a list of things to try, and thought I’d share them with you! They can help you out, whether you’re just hanging out with a girlfriend on a friend-date or out with someone special:

Here are some great ideas for cheap date nights that are still so much fun! Check out more at lifeasadare.com

1. Free Concerts

Seriously, these exist! A lot of Christian concerts are completely free or donation based, so you can go for under $10! Keep an eye out for flyers advertising up-and-coming bands, battle of the bands competitions, etc., which often have either free or cheap entrance fees!

2. Picnic Dinner

It may sound cheesy, but it is so much fun! Bring a frisbee or your old ball and gloves, pack some sandwiches and veggies, some cookies, and a blanket. It’s healthier AND cheaper than going to a restaurant, and you’ll have a bit of piece and quiet while getting some time in the great outdoors!

3. TV/Movie Marathon

Pick a favorite movie genre, trilogy, or TV show and have a marathon! Buy some microwave popcorn, some fruit, and melt some chocolate to drizzle over everything! Much less than going to a movie, and you don’t have to sit through 30 minutes of advertisements!

4. Thrifting

Hit up the local Salvation Army or Goodwill! Try to find something you’d actually wear, the tackiest thing you can, or the quirkiest! It can be tons of fun and lead to tons of laughs.

5. Hiking

Now I’m a bit of an outdoorsy person, but even if you aren’t, there’s something fulfilling about making it up the top of that hill and looking out over the city. More often than not it costs absolutely nothing, and is a great time.

6. Go to the Beach!

Hey, if you’re just gonna hang out, it might as well be out in the sun! Grab those towels, bathing suits, some food and head out there!

Or, for those of us in colder climates..

7. Build a Snow Fort!

Never underestimate how fun it is to grab recycling bins and build a tower of snow. Then, best part, you can destroy it afterwards!

8. Explore the Wildlife!

Go out to the marsh or some wetlands around where you live and find frogs, turtles and tadpoles. Bring a net, camera, and BUG SPRAY.

9. Ice Cream

Instead of going out for an expensive dinner or a movie, grab a $1 milkshake at the local ice cream store!

10. Have a Photoshoot

I’m not really one for pictures, but my sister’s favorite girls’ day is photoshoot day! Put on some cute outfits, grab that camera and start shooting! If you’re on a date, some couples pictures can be really cute, too!

11. Hit the Drive-In!

These are often a lot cheaper than a normal movie, show older films, and sometimes churches or schools even offer them for dirt-cheap! Grab some blankets and pillows and fill up the back of the truck!

12. Cook Something

Find the most complicated recipe you possibly can and see what happens when you try to make it! You might find an inner chef come out in one of you!

13. Play Childhood Games

Foosball, battleship, Old Maid, Crazy Eights.. whatever you grew up with! Have a night of just playing the craziest, most childish games you can! It’s super fun, and super relaxed.
Tell me which are your favorites, or what are your favorite date/girls day ideas! Friendships and relationships are so important, and the memories you make with them are worth more than anything else. So try something new, and learn more about the amazing people God has put into your life, all while having a great time and saving money!

What do you do when hanging out with friends?
