7 Things I Wish I Knew in Junior Year

4 Oct

Junior year is pretty crazy, not gonna lie.

My third year of college was both fantastic and horrible. The great parts were that I was engaged to be married, I was writing a book proposal for my first actual full-size real-life adult book, and I loved my courses. The bad parts were that I started to get really stressed. Like really really stressed.

I’ve written about my struggles with anxiety before, and this is the year that it all really started. Looking back now, I recognize that there were a lot of things that I was worrying so much about that were completely unnecessary. And, to be honest, it’s sort of sad to see how much emotional energy I wasted over that year.

So in this instalment of the “What I Wish I Knew: College Edition” unofficial series, I wanted to help those of you in junior year who may be struggling the same way I was. I hope this helps! [Read more…]

9 Things I wish I Knew in Freshman Year

6 Sep

Starting your first year in college? Here are some freshman tips to help you get off on the right foot!

Last year I did a series that was really popular and still gets me a lot of visits every month, The Freshman’s Guide to College, but I wanted to expand a bit from that this year. I’m currently finishing my last course of my undergrad, and I’ve been very introspective lately, just remembering all of the things I did right and I did wrong from the years I’ve been in university.

University is really scary, let’s be honest. You’re thrown into a group of thousands of people all doing this adulthood thing for the first time with no idea where they’re going to be at the end of their 4-year degrees. Freshman year, although one of the most exciting, is one of the scariest, in my opinion. So I thought that I’d start with giving some freshman tips to help you get through this year a little more prepared than I was. Complete with pictures from my first year in university, so you can get a glimpse of my life back then.

Your Guide to Cleaning with Roommates

4 Jun

The age old question: how to get roommates to clean. It plagues the heart of many a college student, that’s for sure.

Living the roommate life is fantastic. Although I wouldn’t give up being married for the world, sometimes I miss living with the girls–they’re my best friends! And I know Connor misses living with the boys at times. Having roommates can be a great experience, but there is always at least one thing that drives you up the wall about the other person or people you live with.

Usually, it’s cleaning.

When you’re all sharing a kitchen and living area together things can get out of hand very quickly if even one person is messy. And when it’s messy, tensions run high. So it’s important to get this sorted out so that your roommate experience is a positive one! Plus, it’s just nice to have a clean house.  [Read more…]

10 College Bloggers I Love | Top 10 Tuesdays

12 Apr

So I’ve been a college blogger for just over a year now, and let me tell you—it’s been a crazy ride.

There have been some amazing things that have come from being a college blogger. I became more confident in my studies, I created content that helped literally thousands of students worldwide, and I’ve met some pretty wonderful people along the way.

The college blogging world is actually a pleasantly small one, since there are a lot of college fashion bloggers but not many who actually focus on college issues in terms of studying, time management, and academia in general. So whenever I find a great college blogger, I am immediately a follower. I know that many of you are always looking for more great resources when it comes to college issues, and since I’m such huge fans of these bloggers I thought I’d share them with you! [Read more…]
