5 Ways to Make Your Work Environment Stress-Free

13 Jan

Do you find that your office just stresses you out sometimes?

I work from home, so my office is where I spend the majority of my time (when I’m not working from the couch…). And I’ve found that one of the easiest ways to make the work day less stressful is simply to create a more relaxing and calm environment.

Back when I lived with my parents, this was super easy to do. I put curtains all along my one wall, painted the room a beautiful periwinkle colour, and it was exactly how I wanted. In a rental unit, though, it’s another story.

I can’t nail anything up, I can’t paint the walls, I can’t make any permanent changes, or anything that would need to be covered up. Our apartment is adorable and I love it, but it’s painted a weird off-white, a cold off-white, and it just feels really stark.

So I’ve been working the last little bit on making it feel more homey. And I wanted to share my tips with you!  [Read more…]

6 Simple Switches to Improve Creativity

2 Nov

Just want to let you all know that this post on simple switches for creativity is sponsored by Boise paper. All opinions are my own. Thanks, Boise, for helping make it possible for me to do this job that I love so much!

As an author and a blogger, my challenge is always to find simple switches for creativity.

I don’t have a lot of time or the energy to completely uproot my life, go on a 3-month trek through the wilderness to “reset” everything, so I rely on quick fixes instead. It’s less stressful, more efficient, and often extremely effective.

No matter what you’re aiming for in life, creativity is going to help you get there. Finding new ways to study so that you can do better on exams. Thinking of a new way to approach that story so that your article stands out from everyone else’s. Coming up with new ways to convince kids to eat vegetables. Whatever you end up doing, creative thinking will be a real asset.

But we get so caught up in the automatic world that we’re in that we never really seem to think creatively anymore at all. We don’t read or write, we watch Netflix. Instead of going for walks, we play video-games. It can be really easy to get into a rut!  [Read more…]

Been thinking a lot about this and how it pertains Been thinking a lot about this and how it pertains to the incarnation lately.

Being called to forgive 70x7 times doesn’t mean you have to let someone hurt you that many times.

But the sweater I knit to procrastinate during college is ~so delightful.~

Everyone knows my mom knits, but it’s actually a family tradition at this point! My goal over the next 5 years is to have as much of my wardrobe be hand-made as possible. 😁

Naming my kids is a sacred thing to me, and Connor and I choose names to be prayers over our kids.

Vivian Louise, may you grow into a lively and renowned warrior, standing your ground with courage as you fight for all things that bring life and goodness into this world.

You bring so much joy and vivacity to our little family. We love you so much. Happy daughters day.
COVID, but make it ✨dramatic✨ In all serio COVID, but make it ✨dramatic✨

In all seriousness I feel like crap but got an overall mild case. Yay for masking and vaccines. 👏🏼 and the kids are doing fine, too, thank goodness. Connor is feeling crappy but overall it seems to have hit our family with a mild case, but definitely still feeling very crummy.
I truly don’t understand how so many people can I truly don’t understand how so many people can look at children such as these and think they’re evil and bent.

They are learning. They are growing. They are trying. They are clumsy, overwhelmed, and frustrated at times yes. But they’re also joyful, curious, and persistent.

They have shown me what the apostle Paul meant when he prayed that we may know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.

Because if I can love these kids this much, and honestly love their flaws and humanness as well as their strengths and areas of excellence, how much more does Christ love us?

Rest easy, for you are loved. 💕
